Medical - State Health Benefit Plan (SHBP)

  • Premiums will increase for all medical plan options in 2026, with a weighted average increase of 10%, depending on the selected Plan Option and Tier.
  • There are no changes to medical plan benefits or coverage options.
  • To help medical plan members save more by using Tier 1/Generic prescriptions, the Tier 1 copays will be reduced and the copays for Tiers 2 and 3 will have a slight increase for the HMO and HRA plans.

You are not required to complete an active election for medical to carry forward to 2026, but this is a great time to access the SHBP enrollment portal to review your enrollment information and print a Confirmation Statement for your records.  If you do not enroll, your medical benefits will carry forward to 2026.  This includes any applicable tobacco surcharge.

Voluntary Benefits (Non-Medical)

  • Dental: New MetLife dental plan options will be offered, with a comparable provider network, added plan enhancements, and lower monthly premiums than the current dental plans. The Network Plan has lower payroll deductions, but you are highly encouraged to use in-network dentists with this option.  With the Freedom Plan, you will still incur higher out-of-pocket costs if you obtain services from out-of-network dentists, but the out-of-pocket reimbursement is higher than the Network Plan.
  • Pet Insurance: A new pet insurance benefit is available through Nationwide to help care for your special family members. This plan includes the flexibility to use any vet for your pet's services, and no pre-certification or pre-approvals are required.
  • This is a special Open Enrollment period for life insurance and Short Term Disability.  Enroll now with no health questions.
  • There are no other voluntary benefits updates for 2026.

Your 2025 benefits will continue to 2026 if you do not complete an election.  We encourage you to review your personal information, plan options, and life insurance beneficiary information at this time, even if you are not making changes to your voluntary benefits.
